Photograph of painting by Nate Rose, 2024.
Nate Rose was born and raised in Green Bay, Wisconsin, where he dabbled in art from a young age. In his early twenties he began painting in earnest, making abstract paintings. In 2009 he made his way to Oregon, where the natural beauty inspired him to go back to school and study art. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Portland State University, focusing primarily on painting and sculpture. His years in the Pacific Northwest were mostly spent painting landscapes and various nerdy pop culture pieces. In 2022 he moved back to Wisconsin and switched to mostly using oil paint and focusing on plein air painting, with stunning results!
